Join us for a political education discussion on the Charity vs. Self-Determination? The Rise of the NGO in the Name of “Helping Women” and Children that exposes how humanitarian aid and charity, especially when directed at African women and children, are often used to mask colonial capitalist interests and undermine genuine self-determination.

We’ll examine how the rise of NGOs, while claiming to “empower”  frequently operates as a extension of imperialism, maintaining dependency, controlling political agendas, and reinforcing colonial narratives of helplessness. This discussion will challenge the idea that charity is neutral and reveal how true liberation for African people requires organizing for power.
